Report it early

Something wrong in your flat? Tell someone today.

Most housing disasters start small: a slow drip, a toilet that won't flush. They get worse because nobody reports them. Reporting early protects everyone, including you. Pick the problem, copy the message, send it.

Private. No account. Nothing you do here is saved or shared.

Flatmates

If a flatmate caused it, they don't need to own up to report it. Anyone in the flat can send the message. The earlier it's fixed, the smaller the cost for everyone.

Questions students ask
Will I get blamed or charged for reporting a problem?

Reporting early is the best way to avoid charges. Small problems that are ignored become big repairs, and those are the bills that get split or deducted from deposits.

Should I report by phone or in writing?

Both if it's urgent. Always follow up in writing (email or the portal) so you have a dated record and photos.

What if nobody fixes it?

Chase in writing after a few days and keep every reply. Your students' union advice service, Shelter or your local council can help if repairs keep being ignored.
